Whatever happened to the brainwave of technology or skills transfer? If we sent people to the US or EU for job skills training why didn’t we make that as part of the deal to let the Co to mine coal in Sarawak?
Coal mining is cheap in China but at some RM3,000 wages per head it sounds like big money in Sarawak.
But the risks of the job are high and higher if, the mine owner values a human life as much as a canary, a bird, which they normally use as early warning systems for dangerous gases underground. The bird makes sad or distressed sounds when there’s poisonous gas.
It’s not any more right for other lives to be endangered whether they’re China citizens or Sarawak citizens.
