Mata Kuching,
What makes it possible to call a referendum under Pakatan Rakyat rule versus under BN rule ? The Federal Constitution still prohibit secession. The Sedition Act will still be there. But most important of all, the major players in the oil and gas sectors are based in Malaya, and they will have the resource to counter any political movement to call for a Referendum. I have no problem with giving Pakatan Rakyat the chance to rule, to strengthen democracy via the 2 party system, but to suggest that Pakatan Rakyat would support a referendum, or to suggest under Pakatan rule, Sarawakian will be granted the freedom to call for a referendum, is intellectual dishonest, if not a flawed thinking. Baru Bian reference to the 18 point agreement, is quite recent – and it should be noted that Pakatan Rakyat Common Policy Framework, make no mention of the 18 point agreement. PAS would never agree to the position on official religion, as that would shut off the Federal government funding for Muslim religious activities in Sarawak. And the position on English in the state ? I have a hunch DAP will not want to alienate their supporters in the Chinese school activist. If Pakatan Rakyat do not endorse the 18 point agreement, what else led you to believe that a Pakatan Rakyat government will allow Sarawakian to call for referendum ?
