Are we to stay stastic in every sense of the word? Continue to be cave dwellers? Continue to be hunters-gathers? Continue to have the same per capital income as we are 5 years ago? Yes, Sarawak’s per capita income increased but at different phases. The Chinese came to Sarawak with bamboo as their pillow. On arrival Chinese immigrants per capita income ….. you tell me. With their ingenuity their per capita income is 100 millions time more. Of’course not all are that fortunate.
The Dayaks came to Sarawak with parangs in their hands and sirats to cover their private parts. They are agreesive for the wrong reasons. Hardworking but unproductive. Their per capita income may have been 50 times more when they came to Sarawak. Like the Chinese some are getting more than the others.
The Malays/Melanaus have done much better than the Dayaks but not as good as the Chinese. They benefitted from the NEP’s affirmative action programs.
