IT IS VERY SIMPLE MINDED TO BLINDLY ACCEPT UMNO’S VERSION OF HISTORY ON CREATION OF MALAYSIA!
It is sad to read your comments which shows you know very little of the history of the Borneo people’s anti-Malaysia struggle for national independence.
Clearly you live in a dream world created by Malayan UMNO and have not realized that for 48 years we have been re-colonised instead of being “independent”. Before you criticize and defend a bad idea called “Malaysia” may be you should read other views expressed on the subject by various writers mentioned below. A one sided view is not helpful for a rewarding information exchange…..
Do visit this Dayak website and read the views of many Dayak people who today realise that they have been re-colonized by UMNO Malaya. http://dayakbaru.com/weblog08/2011/08/09/borneonization-stipulated-in-the-inter-governmental-committee/

Many native people were and have been misled by their “leaders” to believe that Malaysia is best for their social-economic progress :

Aki Jugah was one of the leaders who had resrvations about “joining Malaysia”. But after 48 years they are still saying these things when even Aki Jugah’s home town has become an isolated and one of the expensive towns in Sarawak: http://dayakbaru.com/weblog08/2011/12/21/the-plights-of-kapit/

In neo-colonial Malaysia Dayaks are among the majority people who have suffered the most from land robberies and gomen created poverty. True they have been victimized by Taib. But he can only rob the Dayaks with the backing of Malayan UMNO troops and police. And UMNO has been robbing our oil and gas because Taib and his corrupt uncle signed away our oil rights to UMNO. You know that but don’t you care?!

The real history of SARAWAK & SABAH is that they were forcibly incorporated into “Malaysia” on Sept 16 1963 after the British suppressed the Tentara Nasional Kalimantan Utara (TNKU) the nationalist army of the Brunei People’s Party. The BPP and the Sarawak communist movement opposed Malaysia as they saw it as neo-colonial creation and it would just be the re-colonization of Sabah and Sarawak by Malaya.

The people of Brunei and Sarawak formed anti-Malaysia guerrilla forces which fought the British commonwealth army and Malayan army with the help of Indonesia. Later the North Kalimantan People’s army (PARAKU) also fought the Suharto forces after the overthrow of Sukarno. So nationalists and communist fought for independence but not the so-called British sponsored Sarawak leaders who sold us out to Malayan colonization.
