DAP veterans like Karpal Singh and Lim Kit Siang are very well liked, respected and known to be highly decorated “opposition” soldiers. Karpal Singh has the political foresight to suggest the one seat for one leader in his party. I feel there should be exception especially if the leader is also a CM and state chairman. Exception should also be given to the party in Sabah and Sarawak where talents, trust worthy and qualified leaders from non Chinese community are still lacking.
Perhaps the party leadership should defer implementing Karpal’s suggestion to GE14 so as not to distract and derail ongoing preparation for GE13. DAP will still receive the overwhelming support of majority of Malaysians based on its proven track records even if some leaders were to contest both state and parliamentary seats.
Let the suggestion stays as it is and do not hasten to make it a policy of DAP and PR for now.
