YOUR ENEMY’S ENEMIES ARE YOUR FRIENDS AS IMPENDING PURGE APPROACHES
“And now it would seem that in Sarawak, Chief Minister Taib Mahmud and Anwar are also holding each other’s hands. Najib too is in there somewhere.”
It seems in politics there are no enemies but strategic alliances. The Chinese Communists were brilliant at this when they were opposing the KMT in China.
But Anwar mucking around with Taib? That is possible and there are rumours around town. The main target is UMNO and it may be profitable to get Taib on side to win victory at the polls. But this alliance will lose Anwar local opposition support and continue bad governance at least in Sarawak and against PKR reforms. It would undermine all the work done in Sarawak to swing the vote away from Taib’s side.
This is only one scenario.
Clearly even Taib is feeling the hot winds of change if it is true about the reports and he has weighed out his chances of survival in Sarawak. He owes no loyalty to UMNO when his position is threatened.
Anwar has never openly threatened to “hang” Taib for his crimes against the people. But who knows if the people really demanded this? This they can do if they vote him out.
But Anwar may see more value to get Taib on side if the people fail to get rid of him. However, as mentioned this will really put off the local politicians who are waiting to purge Sarawak of one giant parasite.
But this depends on HOW threatened is his position in the whole picture. If the election results were somewhat 50/50 in Malaya he and Sabah Musa will again be King maker. He could maintain the status quo and no one is wiser about his mood change. He has been very quiet lately.
Not many of us will know that the SUPP led by a minority of turncoat leaders became the “King maker” in 1971 when it betrayed all its principles for Sarawak independence and joined the BN. This gave UMNO the 2/3 majority it lost in 1969 and had resorted to emergency rule following the Razak instigated May 13 massacre. SUPP leaders for their own selfish interest hold mush direct responsibility for the political socio economic mess in Malaysia today by empowering UMNO BN. Unfortunately they are most dead and will never face justice.
In Malaysian politics we are all familiar with the “frogs” especially in Sarawak and Sabah……. Will Taib be one too?
Also should not Anwar approach the Dayak parties if he has not already?
