MALAYA NEEDS OUR RESOURCES & VOTES MORE THAN WE NEED MALAYA!

RPK’S ATTEMPT TO PERSUADE US TO STAY IN MALAYSIA DOES NOT ADDRESS THE REAL GUTS ISSUES OF RE-COLONIZATION.

The main objective of RPK’s article is to argue for the preservation the neo-colonial Malaysia by arguing that Sabah and Sarawak should not separate but remain as part of Malaysia.

He simply dismisses the calls for Sabah/Sarawak independence as foaming and frothing.

But what is clear is that without Sabah and Sarawak there will be no Malaysia.

Certainly some of his suggestions could be looked at – such as using our position to extract a “better deal” and to restore our independence rights supposedly provided for by the Malaysia Agreement.

Is this what we want?

RPK’s argument that we can be “independent states” within the federation only means at best a form of limited autonomy.

It is a contradiction to say we have independence when we are chained to the Malaysia concept which was originally the British plan to consolidate its rule in the post war period. But because of the Malaya and Borneo people’s strong anti-colonial struggles the British had to revise their idea with a plan to hand over the colonial reins of power to its proxy UMNO which it had installed in power in 1957.

The rationales for creating Malaysia in 1963 such as the racial balance, foreign invasion etc no longer exist. The Malaysia idea collapsed with the departure of Singapore and the total failure of UMNO to keep promises made to entice Sabah/Sarawak people to support the Malaysia concept and UMNO’s breach of the Malaysia agreement.

Even little Brunei could see the dangers of coming under Malayan rule and it stayed out. It does not have the colonial problems both Sabah and Sarawak have experienced for 48 years.

Both Sabah and Sarawak are richer in resources than Malaya. At present we have lost all control of our resources and destiny and kept dirt poor so Malaya can continue to dominate us. In fact UMNO has been draining out wealth for the development of Malaya.

What is blindingly clear is that if we are already so rich we do not need to be governed by a foreign government like Kuala Lumpur nor rely on it in any way to survive as an independent nation.

Malaya need our resources and as fixed deposits more than we need Malaya!

Sabah leaders have been asking this very question – Sabah and Sarawak can stand on their own and be totally self sufficient. We don’t need Malaya to lord over us and supervise of our lives.

The best course is to free ourselves, free Sabah and Sarawak for real independence!

We can stand alone and be independent from Malayan rule!
