Many of us may know the saying that Afghanistan was never wholly subjugated by British Imperialism.
One story told is that the British army deploying many thousands of Indian colonial troopers (cannon fodder), was sent up the Khyber Pass to fight the Afghan resistance around 1842 .
The Afghans using guerrilla warfare annihilated the British forces in the Khyber Pass.
One soldier came back. He was sent back by the Afghans to bring the warning “don’t try it again”.
Seems that the Brits & Yanks did not learn any lessons period and invaded Afghanistan again on some pretext relating to the 9/11 attack and incidentally knocked out the Taliban they had helped to installed in power after conniving the defeat of the Russians! (But then they always have this problem in all countries where they installed various regimes).
The allies first ganged raped Iraq and after ravaging the land and people Britain pulled out in May 2011. But it is still stuck in Afghanistan.
The Yanks just pulled out of Iraq few days ago with their tail between their legs in time for Xmas. This was an Obama please everyone move to please the soldiers and family and to please the electorate for the next Presidential elections. Yes, Obama did fulfill his election promise to bring home the troops. Maybe it in view if the circumstances he had no choice and should not be bludgeoned over this.
But they are stuck in Afghanistan.
The local regime installed with western backing just cannot last a few weeks if the Allies pulled out altogether.
The Western Alliance have fought 2 big wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and lost many soldiers. Yet they don’t humble themselves and learn to restrain their imperialistic egos. They are cooking up more foreign invasions with Iran, North Korea, Burma in mind so they can bring their “democracy” to these countries.
