DCCI wants to see more women in business

KUCHING: Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) is setting its sights on increasing the number of Dayak women in business.
Towards that end, a seminar titled ‘Enhancing Women Entrepreneurial Leadership’ will be held at Tanahmas Hotel, Sibu on Oct 7.
Speakers at the one-day seminar are associate professors Dr Madeline Berma from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Dr Faridah Shahadan and Dr Shamshubaridah Ramlee.
Tourism and Heritage Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Datu Ik Pahon Joyik and representatives involved in tourism-related industries industry, including handicraft, will share their experiences.
Chairperson of DCCI’s women entrepreneur development committee, Livan Tajang said in a press release that 200 women were expected to converge for the seminar.
Guest-of-honour would be Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department, Datin Fatimah Abdullah.
She said among the objectives of the seminar were to enlighten Dayak women on the problems faced in the business world.
“It is also for DCCI to understand the needs of woman in business,” she said.
